Mackie is a freelance illustrator, who produces hand drawn, 'beautifully crafted' compositions for a number of different clients. Daniel has been freelancing since 1995 and has covered many briefs. I would personally love this job description!

I discovered this artist only recently and I couldn't help but join his website for daily posts and updates! I think his subject matters are truly unique and striking. There are so many great artists out there you have to go one step further to get noticed and in my opinion his work pushes the boundaries. Check out his website I'm sure you will agree. x

A graduate from Brighton in Interior Architecture, currently freelancing in drawing/visualisation in the architecture industry alongside creating private commissions for people.

I enjoy Lisa's loose sketch life drawing technique. This 'Darlek' is fun, energetic and bursting with colour! I like the splodges of colours around the page, almost accidental but I'm sure they were not. Lisa was an artist I felt I could relate to throughout my degree.

'Delicate Mayhem'

At Spitalfields market I found a freelance illustrator ‘Laura Jordan’ and her collection Delicate Mayhem. Her work focuses on the bustling areas of London, although her primary source for designs comes from the east end. She is excited by both new and old technology and combines both in her work.

I found I had very similar thoughts and ideas to her about mixing drawing with technology and collage.

I enjoy the black and white contrast with the bright colourful aspects of the pieces. She very carefully uses water colour's ever so lightly and allows them to run into one another, almost as if accidental.

This gives a childish playful touch to these skilled very different map like representations of London.

Lizzie is a very talented artist who i felt inspired by when collecting research for my project 'Typically British". Her wallpapers features figurative imagery often aspects of London life.

Schandra Sigh

'The Little Girl'

A painter I noticed exhibiting at the Saatchi Gallery, in an exhibition celebrating indian art.

The artist uses a combination of oils/ gouache on canvas and wood to create almost mosaic like pieces. Among a collection of very political pieces of artwork, I find sigh's work at first glance vibrant, energetic, uplifting, but after looking at it for a while it becomes very expressive, expressing emotion, anxieties and fears. I find her paintings quite moving and very powerful.

From Kent, contemporary British Artist who exhibits in and around London, Glasgow and Paris.Classically trained as a graffiti artist, creating pieces on the street but also in galleries.

His works are inspired by everyday life, and are his personal perspectives of the world. His drawings are brought to life through a combination of spray paint and Acrylic. I love love love his colour palette, brush strokes and expressionist style of painting.

His works are captivating, intimate and very much alive.

Came across this artist when browsing the internet last year. Found her fine art photographs captivating, take a look at the address above and view her collections. Lux is a German artists, who creates surreal portraits of children. The artist gives nothing away when asked about her pastel, quirky, could be seen as spooky artwork....

"I want people to decide what to see," she says. Whatever they do decide, they're not likely to forget it.

2009 -'Changing Faces'

Sherman has helped me out many times throughout my degree, especially when it came to my dissertation which was based around ideas of the gaze, female representations of the gaze and the feminist movement.

"The work is what it is and hopefully it’s seen as feminist work, or feminist-advised work, but I’m not going to go around espousing theoretical bullshit about feminist stuff."

I feel I can really relate in Sherman in many artistic ways. She is one of my favorite artists.

Grayson Perry

Grayson is part of the artwork, If anything he is the artwork! I love this, he is so very different, he stands out and it works! He is a genius. I also enjoy his pottery of course, It has critical thinking behind it, it relates to his tough childhood etc.

I turned to Perry in college when I was doing my Foundation degree. I based my photography around dressing men up as women.. and children. Ever since I have always dressed people, family/ friends up and used the photography as part of my artwork to draw from. This way of working excites me, I absolutely adore working with people and using them in my art, surrealism , dressing up, change of identity.. it's fun challenging and oddly invites people in.
